Independent Contractor Model
Glowed Up Beauty operates using an independent contractor model, not an employment relationship. We are committed to structuring this relationship in accordance with Colorado law to ensure clarity, fairness, and compliance.
Under Colorado law, an individual is presumed to be an employee unless it is established that they are free from control and direction in the performance of their services, both in practice and under contract, and are customarily engaged in an independent trade, occupation, or business related to the services they provide.
At Glowed Up Beauty, contractors:
Maintain control over their schedules, availability, and service offerings
Receive client inquiries and booking opportunities through Glowed Up Beauty, with the freedom to accept or decline requests
Perform services independently for clients they choose to serve, including those obtained through Glowed Up Beauty or through their own marketing efforts
Use their professional judgment and expertise when performing services
May work with other businesses or maintain their own separate clientele
Responsible for paying their own federal and state income taxes on all earnings related to services performed
Service Pricing & Contractor Fees
All services booked through Glowed Up Beauty follow a set pricing menu to ensure a consistent and premium experience for clients. Stylists maintain their independence while performing services, but the posted rates remain the same across all contractors. Contractors earn a fee starting at 15%–25% of the service price, with the exact percentage determined by factors such as years of professional experience, specialty skills, client demand, and demonstrated quality of work. This structure allows stylists to focus on delivering exceptional service while benefiting from the brand’s reputation and client base.
Pay Transparency – Historic Data (2022 Colorado Market)
At Glowed Up Beauty, we believe in transparency and empowering our independent contractors with clear expectations around earning potential.
According to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), Colorado is among the higher-paying states for hairdressers, hairstylists, and cosmetologists.
As of May 2022, the average hourly wage in Colorado for hairdressers, hairstylists, and cosmetologistswas $22.28, with an average annual wage of $46,340 (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2023).
Because Glowed Up Beauty operates with independent contractors rather than employees, actual earnings may vary based on factors such as pricing, services offered, client volume, scheduling, and tips. Contractors also have the flexibility to increase their income through repeat clientele, premium services (such as bridal styling), and efficient scheduling.
Several Colorado regions rank among the top-paying metropolitan and nonmetropolitan areas for this profession:
Fort Collins, CO – average hourly wage $26.75; annual mean wage $55,640
Boulder, CO – average hourly wage $23.64; annual mean wage $49,170
Colorado Springs, CO – average hourly wage $23.17; annual mean wage $48,200
Northwest Colorado (nonmetropolitan) – average hourly wage $22.56; annual mean wage $46,920
These figures reflect employed professionals in traditional salon or spa settings. As an independent contractor with Glowed Up Beauty, your earnings may vary and may meet or exceed these averages, depending on your pricing, service offerings, client demand, and ability to build a loyal clientele.
High-value services such as bridal styling, event hair and makeup, and in-home convenience services can significantly increase earning potential.
